Our Story

With a vision of a life of peace through faith in Jesus Christ, Words of Faith Christian Center began as a bible study on February 16, 1986 in the home of Pastor Charles and Veronica Capel.

The church soon outgrew the residence and moved to its first location on East Bessemer Avenue, then to a new facility at 701 N. English Street. The present church building at 710 Dillard Street, a former daycare center, was acquired on February 28, 1994 and was converted into a house of worship.

Pastor and First Lady Capel never set out to build a large church ministry, but to be faithful and dedicated to the call of God on their lives to“reach the nations through the teaching of faith”.. Over the years the ministry has experienced many changes, but God has remained faithful and true, always providing what was needed.

Our father has restored marriages, health and wholeness to the partners of Words of Faith. Praise the Lord!
